Meet The Doctors


 



 

Jonathan Wong, DDS

Dr. Jonathan Wong graduated with Honors from the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA. He received his Certificate in Periodontology from Oregon Health Sciences University after completing an intensive three-year residency emphasizing periodontal therapy and medicine, sedation and surgical/restorative implant treatment.

Dr. Wong was a recipient of the American Academy of Periodontology Award, as well as a California Dental Association Foundation Dental Student Scholarship. He was recognized with the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Clinical Excellence in Implant Dentistry Award for top clinical presentation. 

He was elected Associated Student Body President while a dental student and served as Chief Resident and Program Representative at Oregon Health Sciences University. He has represented dental students, dentistry, and periodontics at local and national levels. Dr. Wong has held leadership positions in the American Student Dental Association, American Dental Association and the Academy of Periodontology. He is a Past-President for the Santa Barbara-Ventura County Dental Society (SBVCDS), served as a delegate to the California Dental Association, served on the Membership Committee of the Academy of Osseointegration, and was SBVCDS Chair of Peer Review. He most recently served on the Committee for Volunteer Placement for the CDA, which places dentists in valuable leadership roles throughout the California Dental Association. 

Dr. Wong was an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He has written for numerous publications and presented at events sponsored by the California Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology and the Academy of Osseointegration. 

 A sought after speaker with a passion for periodontal and implant dentistry, Dr Wong delivers dynamic, easy-to-understand lectures and workshops that are packed with clinically relevant information. Known for making complex topics accessible and providing up to date techniques, he captures audiences' attention with an energetic presentation style and real-world learning experience that clinicians can immediately apply to practice. He has been invited as a Distinguished Speaker at CDA Presents the Art and Science of Dentistry multiple years, was the Keynote Speaker for the California Dental Hygienists' Association, and has lectured throughout California and nationally. 


Celia Sommer, DDS, MPH, MS

Dr Sommer is a Ventura County native, graduating from Buena High School. She received her Bachelor of Science from UC Davis in Neurobiology and completed the Dental Post-Baccalaureate Program at SF State University prior to obtaining her Doctor of Dental Medicine at A.T. Still University in Arizona. While finishing her dental degree, she concurrently completed her Master’s in Public Health.
She received her periodontal, implant, and oral medicine specialty training at the University of Michigan and was awarded her Master of Science and her periodontal specialty certificate.  Following her training, she obtained Diplomate status from the American Board of Periodontology and served as both a Clinical Instructor and a Research Fellow at the University of Michigan with a focus on the isolation and expansion of stem cell populations for translation into clinical protocols for bone regeneration.

She is recognized locally and nationally for her commitment to community and passion for education. She is an active member of multiple local, national, and international organizations that emphasize advanced periodontal and implant concepts, as well as a leader in local study clubs that enhance the level of care in the community.

Dr Sommer is a seasoned clinician, combining extensive research and didactic knowledge with surgical experience. Prior to moving back to California, Dr Sommer was in full-time private practice in Michigan for over 5 years.
